ESCoP Meetings 2009
Meeting One:
The first Employability Skills Community of Practice Meeting for 2009 was held at the Victorian TAFE Association (VTA) in East Melbourne on 24th February.
Key decisions made at this meeting:
- Member database to be updated and ESCoP Meetings to be convened by Nita Shulz, Victorian TAFE Association.
- Web presence to be established and website hosted by VTA
- Funding submission to be submitted to TDC to assist with sustaining ESCoP activities in 2009
Meeting Two:
The second meeting was held at the VTA on Wednesday 22nd April.
We heard about two approaches to embedding employability skills into teaching practice
- Lisa Confoy-Blackshaw from Chisholm Institute presented on the use of portfolios of evidence for learners across the department of Culinary, Events & Hospitality
- Mark Mossuto from RMIT shared how the pedagogy of Problem Based Learning had informed the integration of Employability Skills in the classroom.
Engaging with Industry Forum - Integration of Employability Skills

The Centre for VET Practice (Swinburne TAFE) and the Victorian Employability Skills Community of Practice recently held an Industry Forum sponsored by Reframing the Future. The event was held at the Victoria University Conference Centre in Melbourne on Tuesday 12th August, 2008.
This event sought to provide participants with the opportunity to explore that which contributes to successful 'Industry Engagement' and consider the importance of Employability skills at the qualification level and job role.
