The Employability Skills Community of Practice (ESCP) is a peak community for the VET sector.

The ESCP was established in 2007. Members include a range of VET professionals and other stakeholders for the purpose of Integrating Employability skills within Vocational and Education programs.

The purpose of the Employability Skills Community of Practice is:

  • To develop staff capabilities to continuously improve the quality of competency based training and assessment within training packages
  • Strengthening provider capability in teaching, learning and assessment in relation to employability skills.

The ESCP aims to provide opportunities for its members to develop:

  • The ability to manage and respond to change,
  • The ability to access and utilise knowledge,
  • The ability to extend professional capabilities,
  • The capacity to deliver Employability Skills through models of 'best' practice
  • The ability to build knowledge and skill base for the integration of Employability Skills within new and revised Training Packages and
  • The capacity to engage with Industry and other stakeholders

The ESCP has been actively engaged in:

  • Benchmarking models of best practice concerning Employability skills to be shared by participants,
  • Professional Development for VET practitioners on Employability skills,
  • Engagement with Industry Stakeholders, that has fostered a deeper understanding of the dimensions of Employability Skills within Industry,
  • A "clearing-house "for Employability skills information, including: resources for professional development, approaches to teaching/training, assessment and reporting.
